The French milky Way

As you already know, cheese is very important for French people. We are also fond of all sorts of milk based deserts (yaourts, creams etc) and often cook with butter. Milk products are an important part of our diet and of the economy.

So there are advertisements for these on TV. After a year in the US, it is always surprising to see that yaourts can only be sold in France by involving a half naked woman in some erotic situation. Indeed some of the generic TV add for milk products were already quite hot. Hotter than any ad I have seen on the US TV last year... Since there is no chance that you see them, enjoy this one:

These TV ads have inspired a lot of sexually connoted jokes in France and, with YouTube, quite a bunch of video parodies. The French giant food company Danone has also used its marketing expertise to sell fruit yaourts in Brasil where people also seem to associate sex with deserts (some people say they associate everything with sex):

Unfortunately, they recently changed the ad. The new one is more, how to say... conceptual. It figures a strange mixture of a science fiction movie and rap clip involving a giant transgenic cow and milky aliens having a musical orgasm on rap...

Is this the beginning of puritanism on the French TV ? Are we moving towards the politically correct eradication of sexual allusion in marketing. Are we becoming a truly capitalistic but so boring country ? It is the death of our French touch. Apparently no... Just compare your Sprint or Verizon ads with this one:

Just to mention that the add for the cell phone network is several years old.. which goes against your hope that puritanism is delayed: I haven't seen such an add recently.
